Thomas Cazenave, born 6 March 1978 in Bordeaux, is a French senior civil servant (inspecteur général des finances) and politician of the Renaissance party. A close ally of Emmanuel Macron whom he met at the Inspection générale des finances, he held senior roles including Deputy Secretary General of the Presidency of the Republic (2016-2017) and interministerial delegate for public transformation (2017-2019). He was elected MP for Gironde's 1st constituency in 2022 and served as Minister Delegate for Public Accounts from July 2023 to September 2024 under Prime Ministers Élisabeth Borne and Gabriel Attal. After an unsuccessful 2020 Bordeaux municipal run (then with La République en Marche), he won the March 2026 municipal election, defeating ecologist incumbent Pierre Hurmic by a narrow margin (50.95%, about 1,827 votes) and became Mayor of Bordeaux on 27 March 2026 and President of Bordeaux Métropole, a flip ending six years of green-led governance.
