Philippe Tabarot, born 25 November 1970 in Cannes (Alpes-Maritimes), is a French politician and Minister of Transport (Ministre des Transports) in Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu's government, a post he has held continuously since December 2024 (first as minister attached to the Minister of Territorial Planning and Decentralisation, then renamed Minister of Transport on 12 October 2025, and confirmed in the cabinet formed after the 26 February 2026 reshuffle). A member of Les Republicains (LR), he was Senator for Alpes-Maritimes from October 2020 until 23 January 2025, when his mandate ended owing to his entry into government. Before the Senate he served as conseiller general of Alpes-Maritimes for the canton of Cannes-Centre (2001-2015) and conseiller regional of Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur (2015-2021), where he was vice-president in charge of transport and a leading promoter of opening regional rail (TER) to competition. In the Senate he was first vice-president of the Committee on Territorial Planning and Sustainable Development and a recognised specialist on transport and rail policy; he authored and was rapporteur of the law on reinforcing security in transport (loi Tabarot, LOI n. 2025-379 of 28 April 2025). He is the brother of LR deputy Michele Tabarot and a member of a political family from Le Cannet; his late father was Pierre Tabarot. In October 2025 the LR political bureau suspended him and the other LR ministers from party functions over their participation in the Lecornu government. He is also the subject of a preliminary investigation opened by the Parquet national financier (PNF) into past local remunerations (2018-2020); no charges have been brought.
