Position on the EU treaty package (Bilaterale III)
Policy position / party-internal debate2025
Mühlemann took a reserved position on the Switzerland–EU treaty package, advocating that the bilateral path be consolidated and strengthened while rejecting EU accession or further political integration, citing sovereignty concerns. At the FDP delegates' assembly of 18 October 2025 he was among the minority who voted against the treaty package (the party as a whole approved it 330 to 104) and supported retaining the cantonal majority requirement (Ständemehr).
