It was the first time in the party's history that Die Mitte took part in a referendum. • The Centre's 'Fairness Initiative' against the marriage penalty (Ja zu fairen Bundessteuern auch fuer Ehepaare)

Bregy is a leading proponent of The Centre's popular initiative for fair federal taxation of married couples, aimed at ending the so-called marriage penalty by maintaining joint taxation. After voters approved individual taxation in March 2026, Bregy announced the party would not withdraw the initiative.
